As people on my f-list may have noticed, I'm currently on a bit of a Life on Mars kick. So, as a result, fifteen icons from the first two episodes of LoM:
Hi, thank you very much for the kind offer. An Unhappy Man (http://community.livejournal.com/lifein1973/2008/02/04/) is all about the idea that Sam is in a fugue state rather than a coma, so your wonderful icon really caught my eye as being made for it!
I wonder if I could be very cheeky and ask for a little tweaking? I've put together this little bodge (http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z307/DorsetGirl/Ruuger_fugue/Ruuger_fugue_custom_1.png) to illustrate what I have in mind.
It's basically your brilliant idea, with a different screencap for the eyes.
(1) I would like the title "An Unhappy Man" placed subtly amongst the fugue definition words somehow.
(2) I've used this mucked-about selection (http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z307/DorsetGirl/Ruuger_fugue/fugue_eyes_1.png) from this ep 1.01 screencap (http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z307/DorsetGirl/Ruuger_fugue/Ruuger_Fugue_Screencap.png) for the eyes. I've gone for the 2006 blue kind of look rather than the 1973 brown tones.
Obviously, do say if you haven't got time, or you don't want to change your original idea.
They're brilliant! May I have both? (with credit, obviously). I can't decide which to use atm; I've got some comments still to reply to on that fic, so I'd like to get one of these onto my LJ to use on my replies. I may also go back and change the icon for each post (if LJ will let me do that).
Can you tell me how you got the screencap looking so "clean"? I really don't know the niceties of photoshopping yet; I find LOM screencaps always come out with sort of a murky green/brown overlay, and I don't know how to get rid of the murk without losing the colour.
Thanks again for doing these; they're perfect for my fic.

Usually, I just randomly apply screen and soft light layers, and then fiddle with the curves until the image looks good :) For this particular image, I pretty much used the same technique I describe in this tutorial, only les 'radically' (as in, the screencap wasn't quite as blue as in the tutorial, so it needed less work).
